Sauna Ceremonies

Saunas are a place to gather in community, to connect to nature and a deeper part of yourself. Disconnect from technology and any external stressors, a time to turn inwards.

A sauna ceremony brings us closer to nature by taking you on a journey through the seasons. Starting in winter we enter the sauna and feel contained in this cosy, womb like space, a guided breathwork practice then brings you into your body, into the present moment so you can let go and begin the process of release.

After the first sweat, we cleanse the body and move into spring. Intentions are set into the water which then flows onto the sauna rocks creating Löyly, the steam, the spirit of the sauna! Enjoy the heat as the Löyly is guided around the sauna with foraged leaf whisks, used to direct the steam onto the skin intensifying the heat and relaxing the muscles. Homemade skin scrubs with salt and sugar are offered and used on the the body to exfoliate, then take a dip in the cold water outside to cool off and feel the aliveness in your soul awaken.

In and out of the sauna we go, completing around four 15 minute rounds of heat and cold, building up to summer and then bringing the heat down to finish in autumn. A coffee and honey scrub is used on the skin as a sign of new beginnings, closing the ceremony with a mediation incorporating sound. The gentle vibrations of a singing bowl ring out into the sauna space, lulling you into a peaceful, meditative state. Upon exit, you feel that you are not the same person you were when you entered the sauna. Something has been released, you leave with a fresh perspective, you are lighter, full of life and absolutely glowing! An experience not to be missed.
